La actitud del adorador y el adorado es la semilla de la devoción (bhakti). En primer lugar, la mente del devoto se siente atraída por las cualidades especiales del objeto de adoración. El adorador intenta adquirir estas cualidades especiales. Esta es la disciplina espiritual (sadhana). En las primeras etapas de la disciplina espiritual, la distinción entre el adorador y el adorado es completa, pero en la medida que la disciplina espiritual progresa, esta sensación disminuye y, cuando se alcanza el logro, no hay ninguna distinción. Independientemente del objeto de culto que se haya alcanzado, amado y buscado a través de la disciplina espiritual, se debe tener fe firme en que el ser individual (jivatma) es el Señor Supremo (Paramatma). Sólo hay un deseo apto para ser abrigado por el aspirante: la realización del Señor (Iswara Sakshatkara). No hay espacio en la mente para ningún otro deseo. (Prema Vahini, Capítulo 39).
The attitude of the worshiper and the worshiped is the seed of devotion (bhakthi). First, the worshiper’s mind is attracted by the special qualities of the object of worship. The worshiper tries to acquire these special qualities. This is spiritual discipline (sadhana). In the early stages of spiritual discipline, the distinction between worshiper and worshiped is full, but as the spiritual discipline progresses, this feeling diminishes and, when attainment is reached, there is no distinction whatsoever. Irrespective of the object of worship one has grasped, loved and sought by spiritual discipline, one should have firm faith that the individual self (jivatma) is the supreme Lord (Paramatma). There is only one wish fit to be entertained by the aspirant: the realisation of the Lord (Iswara Sakshatkara). There is no room in the mind for any other wish. (Prema Vahini, Ch 39.)
