Las escrituras son tan cariñosas con nosotros como una madre. Nos enseñan lecciones como una madre a sus hijos, de acuerdo con el nivel de inteligencia y de las necesidades de tiempo y circunstancia. Una madre de dos niños da al que está sano cada uno de los alimentos por los que clama, pero tiene mucho cuidado de no sobrealimentar al niño enfermo y le da sólo los elementos que pueden restaurarlo pronto a la buena salud. ¿Podemos acusarla de ser parcial con uno y perjudicial contra el otro en conferirle su amor? Las Escrituras también llaman la atención de aquellos que conocen el secreto del trabajo (karma) por su valor innato. El karma puede mejorar la vida y establecer sus ideales correctamente. Todo el mundo debe ser instruido sobre cómo transformar el trabajo en actividad beneficiosa. Sin embargo, el trabajo no lo es todo. (Sutra Vahini, Capítulo 2)
The scriptures are as affectionate to us as a mother. They teach lessons as a mother to her children, in conformity with the level of intelligence and according to the needs of time and circumstance. A mother of two children gives the healthy one every item of food for which it clamours, but she takes great care not to overfeed the sick child and gives it only items that can restore it soon to good health. Can we accuse her of being partial to one and prejudiced against the other in conferring love? The scriptures also draw the attention of those who know the secret of work (karma) to its innate value. Karma can improve life and set its ideals aright. Everyone must be instructed on how to transform work into beneficial activity. Yet, work is not all. (Sutra Vahini, Ch 2)
