Deben sentir contento ya sea que ganen o pierdan. Esto es esencial. Para la mente contenta, la vida es un festival sin fin, en tanto que la mente preocupada por el deseo no tendrá descanso. Con el deseo inquietándoles, la concentración es imposible. El deseo es como fuego en su cuerpo; les reduce a cenizas. El contentamiento es la droga eficaz para destruirlo. Al igual que un baño en las frescas aguas de un río refresca al viajero cansado y sudoroso en el ardiente calor del día, aquel que sufre el abrasador fuego de la codicia será aliviado por las diáfanas aguas del contentamiento. Recuerden siempre que el contento les otorga felicidad y la incrementa.

You must have contentment, whatever be the gain or loss. This is essential. For the contented mind, life is an endless festival, but the mind worried by desire will have no rest. With desire troubling you, concentration is impossible. Desire is the fire in your frame; it reduces you to ashes. Contentment is the effective drug to destroy it. Just as a bath in the cool waters of a stream refreshes a traveller who is exhausted and perspiring in the burning heat of day, the one suffering from the scorching fire of greed will be refreshed by the pellucid waters of contentment. Always remember that contentment grants and increases your happiness.

Dios no decretar estas calamidades, pero el hombre los invita a modo de castigo por sus malas obras. Este es el castigo correctivo, por naturaleza, lo que induce al hombre a abandonar el camino equivocado. Todo esto es parte del gran proyecto en el que lo negativo sirve para glorificar los aspectos positivos. Así, la muerte glorifica a la inmortalidad, la ignorancia glorifica la sabiduría, la miseria glorifica la felicidad; la noche glorifica el amanecer.
