El sacrificio es un aspecto del carácter. Es una de las cualidades que los hombres y mujeres jóvenes debieran asimilar. A menudo se piensa que los actos caritativos y filantrópicos constituyen sacrificio. Mas se da una vasta diferencia entre la caridad y el sacrificio. La gente caritativa a menudo no da sino una fracción de sus haberes a otros. Las donaciones de tierra, la distribución de alimentos, la contribución con trabajo físico y el difundir educación y conocimiento pertenecen a esta categoría. Nadie renuncia nunca a todo lo que tenga a través de actos de caridad. Yendo un tramo más arriba, algunos retienen para sí sólo lo esencial y entregan todo lo demás a la sociedad. Dichas personas reciben las mayores aclamaciones en el mundo. Nuestros textos sagrados prescriben que una porción de las posesiones de uno debe serle ofrecida a los pobres y desamparados.

Sacrifice is an aspect of character. It is one of the qualities that young men and women should imbibe. It is often thought that charitable and philanthropic acts make for sacrifice. But there is a vast difference between charity and sacrifice. Charitable people give only a fraction of their bounty to others. Gifts of land, distribution of food, contribution of physical labour and spreading of education and knowledge belong to this category. Through acts of charity no man ever gives up all that he has. Going a step higher some retain for themselves what is just and essential and give away the rest to society. Such people win the highest acclaim in the world. Our sacred texts prescribed that a portion of one’s possessions must be offered to the poor and helpless.

Siete objetivos de la misión del Divino Avatar Sai:
1. Aakarshanaaya Sarva Janaanaam: Atraer a todas las personas de todas las edades, los climas, las castas, los países, colores o credos, sin distinción alguna, por su poder magnético del amor universal.
2. Vikarshanaaya-cha Dhushkruthyaam: eliminar las malas cualidades, mediante su bondad amorosa, compasión y gracia divina.
3. Samskaranaaya Thaamasikaanaam: Reformar a los inactivos, los ignorantes y perezosos, impulsándolos hacia el desempeño de sus funciones.
4. Samkarshanaaya Raajasikaanaam: reorientación de las energías de las personas egoístas y apasionadas , a la realización de actividades desinteresadas y altruistas para beneficiar a la sociedad.
5. Utkarashanaaya Saadhunnaam: Elevar a las personas buenas y nobles a mayores niveles de conciencia espiritual.
6. Saakshaathkaaraaya cha Bhakthaanaam: otorgar la visión directa del Señor a los verdaderos devotos.
7. Prema Sevaa Prakarshanaaya Sambhavaami Padhe Padhe: Manifestación con su propio ejemplo, del principio del servicio de amor desinteresado a los necesitados, sin ego; Swami declaro que asumirá repetidas encarnaciones.
