La vida está eternamente acechada por la muerte. Sin embargo, las personas no toleran la sola mención de la palabra 'muerte'. Se considera poco auspicioso escuchar esa palabra. Cualquier cosa puede ser incierta, la muerte es segura. Es imposible cambiar esa ley. Sin importar cuán intolerable sea esto, toda cosa viviente recibió un boleto hacia la muerte al nacer y cada momento está avanzando más y más hacia ella. El tren de samsar (vida) en el que están viajando los está llevando a ese destino, ya sea que se sienten en silencio o se acuesten o lean o mediten o canten en el viaje. Reconozcan esta verdad y lleven su mente hacia las buenas tendencias mentales (samskaras). Cada uno debe examinarse a sí mismo con rigor, detectar defectos, y esforzarse por corregirlos. Cuando se descubre y se toma conciencia de los propios defectos, es como volver a nacer. Las personas entonces comienzan de nuevo, desde una nueva infancia. Este es el momento real del despertar. Life is eternally stalked by death. Yet people don’t tolerate the very mention of the word ‘death’. It is deemed inauspicious to hear that word. Anything maybe uncertain, death is certain. It is impossible to change that law. However insufferable it is, every living thing received a ticket to death at birth and every moment is proceeding nearer and nearer to it. The samsar (life) train you are journeying on is taking you to that destination, whether you sit quiet or lie down or read or meditate or sing in the journey. Recognise this truth and turn your mind over to good mental tendencies (samskaras). Everyone must examine themselves rigorously, spot defects, and endeavour to correct them. When people uncover and realise their own defects, it is like being reborn. People then start anew, from a new childhood. This is the genuine moment of awakening. (Prema Vahini, Ch 27)
