Todo ser atraviesa las etapas de nacimiento, juventud, vejez y muerte. La niñez transcurre jugando, la juventud en la vida familiar, y la vejez en cumplir responsabilidades. De una u otra manera, hay sufrimiento mental en relación a cada una de estas etapas. Nuestra actitud ante la vida es similar a la del tamarindo. El tamarindo consiste en tres partes: la semilla, la cáscara y el fruto. De la misma manera, el ser humano tiene el cuerpo burdo, el cuerpo sutil y el cuerpo causal. Supongan que se golpea con una piedra un tamarindo verde, joven: se lastimará tanto la capa exterior como la interior. Por el contrario, cuando se golpea un tamarindo maduro, sólo se rompe la cáscara exterior, y el jugo queda disponible para su consumo. Alguien con relaciones mundanas es similar a un tamarindo verde. Abandonen gradualmente todos los deseos, ya que la naturaleza de los deseos es multiplicarse.
Every being passes through the stages of birth, youth, old age and death. Childhood is spent in playing, youth in family life and old age in discharging responsibilities. One way or the other, there is mental suffering associated with each of these stages. Our attitude to life is akin to that of a tamarind. The tamarind is made up of three parts – the seed, the skin and the fruit. Similarly a human being has the gross body, the subtle body and the causal body. Suppose a raw, young tamarind is hit with a stone, the outer layer as well as the inner layer will be hurt. On the other hand, when a ripe tamarind is hit with a stone, only the outer skin breaks and the juice is available for consumption. The one with worldly associations is similar to a raw tamarind. Gradually, give up all desires, as the nature of desires is to multiply.
