PENSAMIENTO DEL DÍA – 9 DE DICIEMBRE 2011

Uno debiera desempeñar sus actividades con una mente estable, tanto ante la suerte como el fracaso, ante lo bueno y lo malo. Si no se purifica ni entrena el intelecto, será imposible desechar el apego a los frutos de la acción y continuar haciéndolo todo como deber o dedicación. Mantengan esta determinación y así, libérense del sometimiento a la acción (Karma). Podrían decir que desistirán de la acción en lugar de practicar la difícil disciplina de renunciar a sus frutos, ¡mas eso es imposible! El Karma es inevitable. Uno no puede quedar libre de la acción ni por un instante. Cada acto (Karya) o actividad tiene un principio y un final, mas no así el Nishkama Karma (acción desinteresada). Esa es la diferencia entre ambas. Cuando una acción (Karma) se lleva a cabo con la mirada puesta en sus ganancias, uno habrá de sufrir la pérdida, el dolor y hasta el castigo. Mas el Nishkama Karma les libera de todo ello.

One should engage in activity with a mind steady in fortune and failure, good and bad. Unless the intellect is purified and trained, it is impossible to give up attachment to the fruits of action and continue doing things as duty or dedication. Cultivate this mindset and through it, liberate yourself from the bondage of action (Karma). You might say that you will desist from action rather than practise the difficult discipline of renouncing the fruits thereof; but that is impossible! Karma is inevitable. Not for a single moment can one free oneself from action. Every deed (Karya) or activity has a beginning and an end, but Nishkama Karma (desireless action) has no such. That is the difference between the two. When action (Karma) is done with an eye on the gains therefrom, one has to suffer the loss, the pain, and even the punishment. But Nishkama Karma frees you from all these.
