THOUGHT FOR THE DAY_Sunday, July 17, 2011

Cultivate Prema (love) for the Lord. It has infinite potentiality. Even an iron chain can be broken with ease, but not the chain of love that binds you to the Lord. Remember even the cruelest of animals is overpowered by love! If only the floodwaters of this love were directed not to the lakes and shoals on the sides of the river but to the ocean of the Lord’s grace, what a holy task would it be! Then the Jivi (individual) would realise the purpose of life. This is the highest Moksha (liberation). To direct that love onto the Name and the form of the Lord without interruption is truly meditation.

SWAMI DICE:

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY_Saturday, July 16, 2011

In Sadhana (spiritual practices), there are six steps: Sama, Dama, Titiksha, Uparathi, Shraddha and Samadhana. Sama, Dama and Uparathi have to do with various aspects of mind and sense control. Titiksha refers to having equal-mindedness in gain or loss, in pain or pleasure, and in praise or censure. Shraddha (faith) is very essential in spiritual life. Only the one who has Shraddha will attain illumination and wisdom. So whatever work is undertaken, one should do it with diligence and faith. Samadhana refers to contentment. He who has the least desires is the richest man in the world. He who is filled with desires is the poorest man in the world. Therefore, one should have contentment and self-satisfaction. Self-satisfaction comes from self-confidence. Self-satisfaction can lead one to self-sacrifice and thence to Self-realization.

templos.

So Says Sai

The ancients considered temples not only as temples of God (deva-mandirs) but also as temples of spiritual wisdom (vijnana-mandirs). They knew that God can be attained by service done consciously and with full knowledge of meaning. They felt that temples are academies of higher learning, where man develops the real culture of the mind. They knew that the house of God in the hearts of people would be as clean and holy as the house of God was in the hamlet where they lived. You could guess the nature of the inhabitants of a village simply by observing the village temple and its environs. “If the temple is kept clean and pure, with holiness in the atmosphere, you can infer that the villagers are full of the fear of sin, that they walk along the path of goodness” — so thought the ancients.
Today, such institutions of spiritual inspiration (divyajnana- mandirs or Atmopadesalayas) have degenerated into places where “offerings” are distributed and picnic parties revel. Idlers gather in the precincts and play cards or dice or such other games. The evil spirit of Kali (Kali-purusha) sports in glee when such groups gather in the temples.

This is contrary to dharma. The temple is the heart of the village; it should therefore be preserved, nourished, and nursed as befits the heart. Believe that God walks about in the temple; it is His residence. All have a responsibility to preserve the holiness of that atmosphere, which confers the joy of serving the Lord. Believe that the temple is the heart of all. The day this is done, the God principle (Madhavathwa) in man will shine forth as a jewel. This is the truth; this is the reason for all the cost and pain incurred in the construction of temples.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY_ Friday, July 15, 2011

Guru Poornima is the day when you decide to become masters of your senses and intellect, emotions and passions, thoughts and feelings through Sadhana (spiritual discipline). Even during Dhyana (meditation), the ego will disturb you. Hence, offer yourself fully to God. This total dedication cannot emerge from scholarship. A scholar can be polluted by ego; he delights in putting pros and cons against each other; he raises doubts and disturbs faith, mixing the secular with the spiritual in order to extract worldly gain. But you must offer prayers to God to attain spiritual progress. Therefore, engage yourselves in Sadhana (spiritual practices) without delay. Cultivate virtues; be free from evil habits, thoughts, words and deeds. Grow in love and greet everyone with love. This is the way to Ananda (joy).

Bhagavan dice:

Bhagawan says :

" God neither has good qualities nor bad qualities. When you stand in

front of a mirror, your own image is reflected. If you do good, it is

reflected as good or Aghora and if you do bad, it is reflected back

as bad or Ghora. Thus these bad and good aspects are arising from

within you and are reflected backwards, one cannot find a fault and

point it out as belonging to God. If however, you do so, they are

only artificial and are results of your own imagination. If you do

not notice or experience the grace of God, you think that God is not

close to you. You also sometimes say that you have tried your best in

many ways to go to close to God, but God is going farther and farther

from you. This is a meaningless statement. There is no point in

saying that you are going close to God and God is going farther away

from you.
